‘I love the detail in Astrantia flowers and I wanted to capture this beautiful flower with my modified Helios 44m lens. The lens has had its front element taken out and reversed to create a soft swirl around the edges of the frame. I moved around the patch of flowers until I found a suitable back ground for the shot. I wanted the whole picture to emphasise the candy pink colour as it added to the delicate nature of the image. The swirl the lens creates added to the ‘candy floss’ theme I was trying to capture.’
