‘I shot this twin-spot fritillary (Brenthis hecte) in beautiful flowering dry grassland in Croatia. I was happy to see it here, as I have never been able to find this butterfly in Austria, where I live. At first, I photographed it from the side, in the classic way, but as the temperature rose and the insect began to warm up it turned its back to the sun giving me with an opportunity to photograph it from the front. After a while it slowly opened its wings, preparing to take off. I had a few seconds to adjust the focus and take a few pictures before it flew away.’
