Joan says:
‘During the time of confinement in Spain for COVID-19 (March-June 2020), more than 60 dragonflies were born in the pond that I built in my garden for birds to drink from. But not all survived. Some fell into the water when they did not have enough energy to fly and drowned. In this case it is a Crocothemis erythraea. When I found it (26 April 2020) I began to photograph it against the light so that the sun reflected off the wings and in the water. By closing the diaphragm a lot I achieved two effects: that the dragonfly came out all in focus and that the reflections of the sun looked like stars.’
