Mark says:
‘This image was taken on a photographically challenging morning in the New Forest. My original intention was to photograph a crisp and frosty landscape and investigate plenty of frozen puddles along the way. But shortly after arriving and walking out across the open, northern commons it clouded over and started to drizzle.
The landscape quickly took on a dull, grey colour and any chance of frozen puddles quickly began to melt away. I stopped for a quick break under a large oak tree and noticed a couple of frozen puddles nearby – one was cracked and chaotic but this one had a very calm and almost glowing line running through it. As I looked at the patterns in this puddle, I felt my mind wander back to watching the Northern Lights with a flask of hot chocolate in Iceland.’
